After twenty three years in the dance business and representing the United States in twelve World Latin Dancesport Championships and choreographing for countless dancers, Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin wanted a dance studio to call their own. So on October 1st, 2001 Tony and Melanie retired from competing and opened Dance Times Square. Tony and Melanie's goal was to create a dance studio in NYC that would be small, friendly and personalized while providing the highest quality of dance instruction and innovation that would attract the top dancers of the world.
Well they have succeeded in creating a NYC dance studio where both professionals and beginners could come to receive the highest quality and expertise in dance instruction. The instructors at Dance Times Square believe in taking their students to a higher level of dance, making them look and feel very natural and confident on the dance floor, not like they've had dance lessons. As Dance Times Square approaches its tenth anniversary, Dance Times Square continues to deliver the level of professionalism and quality that would be expected of the premier dance studio in the country!
Tony and Melanie channel the same intensity and professionalism to their dance studio that they did while competing. They do enjoy coaching professionals, but their greatest thrill is helping beginners blossom on the dance floor. They offer an honest and authentic approach to their teaching and both believe that education and clarity are key components to success on the dance floor.
Tony and Melanie attract the best in creativity of Dancesport. They are known in the dance world as innovators in choreography, inspiring individualism in their students. They're in demand for their expertise to create some of the most memorable routines on television, theatre, film and competitions. Their celebrity clientele includes Pierce Brosnan, Vanessa Williams, Renee Russo, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon and Patrick Stewart. As leaders in the industry, they bring their vision and an exciting, organic sense to their work. Tony and Melanie have accomplished world class status, even being recognized as the "Ambassadors of Dancesport" and "America's Best Loved Couple."
